Marvel Television executive Brad Winderbaum has shared his desire to bring Ghost Rider to television, but with a focus on the Danny Ketch version rather than the original Johnny Blaze. While Marvel Studios has held the rights to Ghost Rider for some time, the Robbie Reyes version of the character briefly appeared on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Rumors have circulated about Johnny Blaze potentially joining the MCU, but with Disney’s shift towards theatrical releases, those plans may be on hold.
Winderbaum expressed interest in adapting the Danny Ketch era of Ghost Rider, who debuted in Ghost Rider #1 in 1990. Unlike Johnny Blaze, Danny Ketch wields the powerful Penance Stare, a key element in his supernatural battles. The Danny Ketch iteration played a significant role in revitalizing the Ghost Rider character during the 1990s.
Though there’s no official confirmation of a Ghost Rider project on Disney+, Winderbaum’s comments suggest a possibility for the Spirit of Vengeance to return to screens. Additionally, actor Ryan Gosling has shown interest in the role, and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has expressed enthusiasm about potentially casting him. Fans will have to wait to see if this vision for Ghost Rider comes to life in the MCU.
